The Friday Morning Sacred Scripture Reflections Co-ed Group will focus on the Old Testament books of Tobit and Judith and meets Friday mornings from 9:30-10:30 AM (September-May) in the Pastoral Center.
The Men & Women Little Rock Scripture Study Group meets on Wednesday evenings at 7-9pm in the Pastoral Center. This year's study of the Book of Exodus begins on September 12th and ends on November 21st.
The Women of Faith Bible Study Group meets the 2nd & 4th Monday evenings (September-May) from 7-9pm in the Pastoral Center. This year's study will focus on Genesis
Have you ever had a question concerning the Roman Catholic Church and were embarrassed to ask someone? Have you ever been asked a question about the Church and didn't know the answer or maybe how to explain it? If so, join in on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday evenings of every month in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and receive the benefits of hearing the questions and answers of others.Gathering to pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy on every Wednesday from 3-3:30pm and the first Thursday evening of every month at 7pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel; fulfilling God's desire to worship His Mercy by offering the Son to the Father through our prayers of intercession in atonement for our sins and those of the world. Pope John Paul II designated the Sunday after Easter Divine Mercy Sunday in 2002. The fire of mercy needs to be passed on to the world. In the mercy of God the world will have peace and humankind will find happiness.
Are you a Catholic adult who has not been confirmed? You are invited to participate in the RCIA Classes, and will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.
RCIA is a formation process for adults who have not been baptized, were baptized into another faith, or were baptized Catholic, but have not received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation and wish to enter into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Sessions are held on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm beginning in September. Reception of the Sacraments will be at the Easter Vigil.
All parishioners ages 50 and over are invited to become part of the Faithful Friends. Everyone is welcome whether married, divorced, widowed, or single. The purpose of the Faithful Friends is to provide social opportunities and fellowship in a warm, loving, and spiritual environment. Social activities consist of table games, demonstrations of crafts, guest speakers, and occasional field trips. Gatherings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 10am.
This program is an eight-week process that creates in women an awareness of the inner sacred self, while at the same time teaching them new ways to inspire, encourage, and affirm each other. The fall session begins on Thursday, September 13th, from 6:30-8:30pm. There are plans to have a morning session beginning at 10am on January 10th, and the spring evening session will begin on March 27th.
Any Christian who takes their relationship with Christ seriously must take time periodically for quiet reflection, renewal, and focused time with the Lord. Specific information about retreats will be published in the weekly bulletin. Retreat opportunities include:
ACTS is an acronym for Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service. These four themes are the main focus of the ACTS Retreat Weekends. Both Men's and Women's ACTS Retreats are offered twice yearly in the fall and spring.
ESCAPE: Enriching, Spiritual, Prayer Experience. Designed for married couples wanting to experience God's presence in their marriage, the Couple's Retreat can rekindle your love commitment to one another and to your God. This retreat is held annually the first weekend in March at Mo-Ranch, in the beautiful hill country. This retreat experience is for a maximum of 20 couples.
This Prayer Retreat provides an opportunity for a weekend of quiet reflection, silence, and contemplation. This annual retreat for men and women takes place each spring.
A Parish Lending Library of books and audio-visual materials is available for your enjoyment. Books covering a wide range of topics such as theology, spirituality, and personal growth and development are available for checkout for a two-week period. Located in the Pastoral Center, the Parish Lending Library is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM and on Sunday mornings (September-May).
The Pastoral Council is a representative body of the parish and is called to enhance the quality and spirituality of parish life. The Pastoral Council's role is to care for and discern the direction of the overall spiritual life, ministerial growth, and needs of the parish. The meetings are open to the entire membership of the parish and are held at 7:00 PM the 1st Tuesday of every month, September-June, in the Pastoral Center.
The Christian family is ordinarily the first experience of the Christian community and the primary environment for growth in faith. Because it is the church of the home, the family provides a unique locus for catechesis. It is a place in which the word of God is received and from which it is extended. This is a study and discussion group for anyone who is raising children and want to give them a firm foundation in the Catholic faith. It will help to foster the faith formation of children through ordinary events of daily life, and will help parents to feel secure in their own ability to contribute to the religious education of their children.
The sessions will be held every other Tuesday nights from 7-9 pm in the Pastoral Center, beginning on September 25th. Cost for the course will be $20.00 to cover the cost of the books.
Our parish encourages the formation of small Christian communities - groups of parishioners (12-15 people) that meet in homes on a regular basis for scripture reflection, prayer, faith sharing, and spiritual encouragement. The Ministry of Spiritual Direction involves the companioning of others in their search for God in their lives. OLPH is blessed to have qualified spiritual directors in its midst. If you have a desire to deepen your relationship with God and are interested in spiritual direction, you are invited to call for more information.
One Sunday morning session is offered for all adults from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Pastoral Center during the same time period as the Religious Education Program for children September-April. Reflecting on the Scripture readings, church teachings, and discussion provides practical ways of living our faith in the world. The class is open, and a different topic is covered each week. This series is a ten-week study on the gift of authentic femininity and the feminine 'genius' of woman. It encourages all women to explore the powerful influence God calls her to be in the home, in the Church, and in the world at large. Through the course of this study, women will discover the spiritual tools to live out their call and mission in the world today and experience the abundant life in Jesus Christ. Women participants will grow in the knowledge of their Catholic faith, Sacred Scripture, and the spiritual life. This study uses writings of Pope John Paul II, the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), and Sacred Scripture. The formal goals and objectives of this study series are:

Women of Spirit is a women's spiritual enrichment group. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for women to nourish their spiritual lives by sharing time with their sisters in Christ in fellowship, prayer, personal reflection on a passage from scripture, and discussion of a book by authors such as Henri Nouwen, Thomas Merton, Ron Rolheiser, Richard Rohr, Pope Benedict XVI, Blessed Mother Teresa, St. Teresa of Avila, to name only a few. The group meets in the Pastoral Center on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 9:30-11am.
This is an opportunity for Jr. High youth and their parents to come together for fun, prayer, and fellowship. Each evening will include activities, prayer and worship, faith sharing, and refreshments. Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings in place of Jr. High Youth Night from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Youth Room of the Pastoral Center.
