A Letter From The Pastor

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Over one hundred years ago a handful of Selma families embarked on a historic effort  –  the founding of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

As we celebrate the sacrifices of our founders, we realize that it is now  time for us to build on the foundations they have created.  We have been blessed by God to grow from a small faith community into a welcoming church of 4,750 families.  We have built a strong tradition of worship that makes us a vibrant, active, and dynamic place for people of all ages to grow in faith, serve others and share the Good News of Jesus as we connect with Christ, one another, and those in need.

Today, we begin an ambitious expansion effort and ask God to bless our Capital Campaign entitled To Gather and Grow. This Capital Campaign will fund the construction of a new Parish Hall and a new Sanctuary.  These new buildings will allow us to meet the needs of our parishioners as well as create warm and inviting spaces for us to continue to gather, worship and socialize.

The Finance Council, Stewardship Committee, and Building Board have exercised good stewardship in planning for a total project cost that is estimated at $10,400,000.  Taking into consideration our available funds, assets, and a loan , our goal is to raise $5,500,000 through the Capital Campaign.

To reach this goal, we are asking every parish family to make a gift from the heart; and, if I’m asking you to make this sacrifice, then I, as your pastor,  a fellow parishioner, will also make a sacrificial pledge myself.  Before you decide on the amount of your gift, please prayerfully consider the generosity that God has shown you, the importance of the mission we have been given, and the staggering returns that God promises to the cheerful giver.  Enclosed in this brochure is a pledge card.  When completed, please return it in the Sunday collection basket or mail it to the parish office.

As you look through this brochure, I am sure you will be delighted by the design of the project and plan for our future.  It is in that spirit that we embark upon our To Gather and Grow Capital Campaign.

Peace and Love,

Rev. Eric J. Ritter
