Statement from Father Jeff P. regarding law enforcement incident Tuesday afternoon,
September 26, 2023
Yesterday afternoon several law enforcement officers in vehicles and a helicopter arrived at the clergy residence for OLPH. They came to apprehend a visitor. That individual was known to Father Danny and myself. He had served as a priest until he was removed recently from all duties by the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Yesterday this person came to speak with Father Danny who was at the residence. Neither Father Danny nor I were informed that he was about to be apprehended. The circumstances for the arrest were announced on local news yesterday, and a statement was issued by the Archdiocese. We realize how alarming this incident is. We want to assure the OLPH Community that the officers did what they were there to do, and there was no further incident.
Welcome to OLPH!
I want to officially welcome you to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Community. For over 100 years OLPH-Selma has been a spiritual home for many people. Although there has been constant change and development, one important thing remains the same, we remain committed to our loving God, to Church and ministry.
The mission of OLPH Selma is “to be a caring community where God’s presence can be found, God’s word can be heard, where God’s love can be seen and felt, and where everyone feels welcome.” We pray that this will be your experience.
We look forward to joining as a parish community to refocus and revive our energy around understanding and deepening our faith in the Eucharist. Please consider walking this journey with us.
