In the summer the leadership and I decided that we could move forward with the Parish Hall Capital
Project. After surveying the parish, we believe the parish will support the project, too. We will need to
raise 1.5 million dollars more to make up the balance of what is needed. We agree that this can be
done. Since the fall we have moved forward with completing the requirements for the design and
writing the contracts.
In late October and November the parish building committee has been working carefully to finalize
the contracts with the Architect and with the General Contractor. We have to do this under the
supervision of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. This process has taken a lot of time.
The building committee has also been looking at our requirements for the design. They have
carefully studied all the things the parish requires and hopes for in the hall. It will be an 11,000 square
foot building that holds up to 360 people seated at tables. It will be built on the open grass field (next to
the Amiga storage) using the far west lot for parking.
The estimated price of the project is 4.2 million dollars. This includes the building, furniture and
fixtures, architectural and engineering fees and contingency.
